Team,
As some of you may already know Riaan and Megan Barnard have been declined Permanent Residency on the basis that they did not submit Riaan’s Certificate of Qualification with their application. Riaan, amongst all other immigration requirements (language tests, medicals, labor market impact assessments) not only challenged the South African Red Seal Exam but also the Canadian Red Seal and passed both exams to secure his position in Canada, unfortunately to no avail. Riaan may not work for at least the next 30 days to remain in compliance with Canadian immigration laws. This family has adopted Canada as their new home, made friends, established careers through hard work and provided a new life for their children. The idea of having to leave Canada to return to no jobs and having to restart their lives is gut wrenching for them. To appeal the government’s decision they need to pay $10,000.00 during a time which they are both unable to work while having to support their young family. Times are economically difficult for us all right now and any assistance, however small, will go a long way to assisting this family with their efforts to appeal this unfair decision and remain in Canada and part of the TPS Family.
