Two nights ago, I had an accident in Bogotá, Colombia just before stepping onto the stage. It was dark, and I didn’t see a gap behind the platform. I lost my footing, and as I fell, I severely injured my forearm on a metal decoration attached to the wall. The wound was deep, and after spending six hours in the hospital, I had to undergo surgery due to muscle damage.

Since my health insurance only covers Europe, I had to pay all medical expenses out of pocket. On top of that, I now have to cancel several upcoming concerts. As an independent musician, my arms are essential for my work, and this injury forces me to take an unwanted break.

To everyone who has been part of my musical journey, I truly appreciate your support. Any help during this challenging time would mean a lot. I’m staying optimistic and looking forward to recovering so I can get back to playing, recording, touring, and sharing music with you all. -Sebastian Fonseca

Vor Zwei Nächten hatte ich einen echt heftigen Unfall in Bogotá, Kolumbien direkt bevor ich auf die Bühne sollte. Es war stockdunkel, und ich hab nicht gesehen, dass hinter der Bühne eine Lücke war. Mein Fuß rutschte rein, ich verlor das Gleichgewicht und knallte mit dem Unterarm gegen eine Metallverzierung an der Wand. Die Wunde war tief, und nach sechs Stunden im Krankenhaus wurde ich operiert, weil ein Muskel beschädigt war.

Das Ganze war nicht nur schmerzhaft, sondern auch richtig teuer, weil meine Versicherung nur in Europa gilt – ich musste alles selbst bezahlen. Und als ob das nicht schon schlimm genug wäre, muss ich jetzt auch noch mehrere Konzerte absagen. Für mich als Selbständige Musiker ist das der absolute Albtraum, denn meine Arme sind mein wichtigstes Werkzeug. Ohne sie kann ich nicht spielen, nicht aufnehmen, nicht touren – nichts.

Ich will so schnell wie möglich wieder zurück zur Musik, aber gerade ist alles ziemlich herausfordernd. Wenn ihr mich in dieser schweren Zeit irgendwie unterstützen könnt, wäre ich euch unendlich dankbar. Ich hoffe, dass ich bald wieder auf der Bühne stehen kann, um mit euch Musik zu machen und diesen Traum weiterzuleben!

Hace dos noches, tuve un accidente en Bogotá justo antes de subir a una tarima. Todo estaba oscuro, y al dar un paso, mi pie cayó en una zanja detrás del escenario. Me lastimé gravemente el antebrazo con una estructura metálica de la pared, sufriendo una herida profunda. Pasé seis horas en el hospital y, finalmente, me operaron debido al daño en un músculo del antebrazo.

Lamentablemente, mi seguro solo cubre accidentes en Europa, por lo que asumí todos los gastos médicos. Además, tendré que cancelar varios conciertos en las próximas semanas. Como músico independiente, mis brazos son mi herramienta de trabajo, y sin ellos, debo hacer una pausa obligada.

A todas las personas con las que he compartido música, quiero agradecerles por estar ahí. Cualquier apoyo en estos momentos sería invaluable. Espero recuperarme pronto para volver a tocar, grabar, girar y seguir compartiendo música.
