My name is Rhys Price, I’m a 15 year old Downhill Mountain Bike Rider from Ross-on-Wye. I'm ranked #1 in Britain for 'Youth' category as we head into this year's racing. Downhill is my passion and my ambition is to ride for a factory team from next year, (2026) when I'll be in the 'Junior' category and then continue as a pro rider in the following years. In order to achieve this ambition, I need to have success not only on the UK National circuit, but also leave a mark on the European stage, which will involve attending as many European IXS and Continental series races as possible in the next 6 months.

I have been selected for the 2025 British Cycling National Gravity Academy, along with three other lads. This is in recognition of the performances I have had to date and the commitment I have demonstrated to the sport. This means I’m getting coaching throughout the season and tech support at selected European races. However, I have to self-fund to get to these events to cover entry fees, travel and accommodation. To help fund this, I have raised over £2,000 in sponsorship from local businesses to date, and now I'm putting a Go Fund Me shout out to raise enough to make this dream possible.

When my Welsh grandad was alive he used to say "Aim for the stars, even if you hit a lamp-post!" so I'm aiming for the stars. Last summer I competed in my first ever race outside the UK, it was the European Championships held in Champery, Switzerland. This was a fantastic experience and I finished 7th out of the 80 in the U17 category. So I’m eager for some more of these world class tracks this year as I aim for the podiums!

As well as racing in more than 11 UK competitions in the next 6 months, I will be competing in at least four European races, which will be:

Portugal in early April

Fort William in late April

Italy in June

Spain in early August - (European Championships)

Switzerland in October.
