Over the holidays in 2023, my 27-year-old son, Rhys Dunham, spent 10 days in the hospital as doctors worked to find out why Rhys had become so critically ill. After many painful tests and a few serious scares, he was diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis. The disease has put him into stage 4 kidney failure. Rhys was a dedicated respiratory therapist who loves hiking and kayaking with his dog, Cinnamon. He was proud of his ability to bench press 400 pounds and still has a vivacious love of life. Before he became so ill, he was happy and healthy.
This fundraiser is to help Rhys pay for his medical bills after his 10-day hospital stay. Part of his treatment includes dialysis 3 times a week for four hours each session. He is starting chemo-infusion therapy to suppress the Lupus from attacking his kidneys and the doctors are working to avoid the need for a kidney transplant.
So many people have reached out to ask how they can help. As Rhys focusses on managing and improving his health, a great way to support him is to donate towards the reduction of his mounting financial burden. Any contribution is valued and appreciated. thank you so much, from Monica Dunham (his mom) and the Dunham family!
