Rhydian’s Serve and Stride for Cancer 24 & 13.1

FROM BASELINE TO FINISH LINE

24hrs of non stop tennis finishing off with the Cardiff Half Marathon.

In 2023, just five months after our incredible wedding, we were dealt the most devastating news — Angharad had cancer. A word that brings fear and uncertainty.
But today, I am beyond grateful to say:
Angharad is one year in remission from Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

This past year has been filled with moments of pain, resilience, hope, and healing. Along the way, Angharad was supported not only by our loved ones, but also by an incredible charity that stood by her during her toughest days.

The Sir Gareth Edwards Cancer Charity was one of the first charities to offer us support while Angharad was receiving treatment. The charity supports young adults in Wales aged 15–35 who are living with cancer, providing grants to help with costs brought on by this cruel disease.

Eirlys, in particular, gave a personal touch when checking in on Angharad, and made sure she and our little girl, Mabli, were okay. At the time, Mabli had only just turned one, and they thoughtfully sent her a new set of comfy pyjamas featuring her favourite character. It was a beautiful gesture that meant so much to us.

Now, as a family, we want to give back to this amazing charity and help ensure they can continue supporting young adults in Wales who are fighting cancer.

On August 9th at 12pm at Llandybie Tennis Courts, I will begin my challenge of playing continuous tennis for 24 hours.
It’s going to be physically and mentally demanding, but I’m genuinely excited for it.

Then, on October 5th, I’ll be taking on my next challenge — the Cardiff Half Marathon. As most of you know, I’m not much of a runner, but I know the pain I’ll face is nothing compared to what Angharad and other cancer patients have to endure.

Every donation, no matter how small, helps provide support to individuals and families who are on their cancer journey.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your support — whether through a donation or simply sharing this page. Together, we can help give the Sir Gareth Edwards Cancer Charity the recognition it deserves, and support families across Wales for many years to come.
