Rhyder is an energetic, playful, and fun four-year old boy from the island of Oahu. In July, Rhyder was diagnosed with primary HLH (Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis), which is a rare, aggressive, and life-threatening condition caused by an abnormal, overactive response of the immune system.
Rhyder is currently being treated at Kapi'olani Medical Center, where he is receiving treatment twice a week. However, this is only a temporary solution. Rhyder will need to have a bone marrow transplant within six months. So far they’ve found an 8/10 unrelated match but we are still hoping to find a 10/10 match before departing to Cincinnati Children's Hospital in Ohio, where he will be undergoing his bone marrow transplant.
Rhyder will be accompanied by his loving parents, Iza and Reagan, along with his playful siblings, Izaiah (9), Rhaiden (8), and Izabella (2). As the family uproots across the country, they will need to leave everything behind including their home, family, friends, and jobs.
Our family is looking to raise funds for medical, travel, and living expenses to support the Lopez family while they are away for at least 6 months. Any amount of donation is greatly appreciated!
