hello!! two days ago, i began a fundraiser for my brother killian’s top surgery. for those of you don’t know, top surgery is the removal of breast tissue in order to create a more masculine appearance on the chest. this may not seem like a big issue, but it plays a huge role in the negative outcomes of gender dysphoria, which can make it very difficult to feel comfortable in your own skin.
my goal is to make sure my brother can finally feel comfortable in his skin. not only that, but this will be a huge financial relief, given the fact that he uses the money he makes from his full time job to pay for rent and bills. he has been trying to get accepted by his insurance for MONTHS but having to justify your identity in the form of letters has been so emotionally draining for him.
you may be thinking, “moira! you’re a college student! use the money to pay for your education!” but the thing is, i’m choosing to go to college—my brother didn’t choose to be born in the wrong body. i will figure out a way to pay for school. killian shouldn’t have to figure out a way to pay for his self-comfort.
donations would be incredibly appreciated but even if you aren’t in a place where you’re financially able to contribute, sharing this would be equally appreciated!! i’m trying to get the word out but it’s very difficult. i’ve moved to gofundme to put all the information in one place but more information can be found on my tiktok: medicatedbumperointment.
so far, we’ve raised a little over 2,000! the goal is 11,000, but with the taxes on gofundme, i bumped up the goal a little. hopefully that isn’t too much of an issue.
