Rhonda Boucher (Miron) Mother, Wife, Daughter, Sister, Advocate, Community Mom
Rhonda has always been a fighter, fighting for her family, fighting for her community, fighting for families and their children. Rhonda celebrated 34 years with her husband Luc, she loved her two children Brandon and Isabella (Bella) with such unconditional love and set them on their successful journey of life knowing they were and will always be loved by their MOM. Her sister Beth and Rhonda shared a close relationship and ensured that their children would know and love one another.
Rhonda had been fighting for her own life the past few years, she had been battling cancer. Unfortunately, her battle with cancer ended on April 28, 2023 at the age of 53 and she has now joined her Mother and Twin Brother who pre-deceased her.
I have been a good friend of Rhonda’s for many years and worked closely with Rhonda during our children’s elementary school years at Poltimore Elementary in St Pierre de Wakefield. I worked alongside her, and admired her for years, shared so many good and not so good times and always had the love and support of my wonderful friend.I have seen the sacrifices she has made personally to ensure her children and community have not gone without.

Another close friend of Rhonda’s, Shannon Davis Lafond, who worked closely with Rhonda on many of the projects, committees and boards shares the many accomplishments that Rhonda made for the English School Board in Quebec.

Rhonda made a name for herself when it came to parent volunteering, and fighting for students, especially in the rural communities. Rhonda spent over 14 years, fighting for all students within the Western Quebec School Board (WQSB) and within the Province of Quebec.
It began when she Chaired the Poltimore Governing Board and represented her beloved school at Parent Committee for the WQSB. She volunteered consistently at Poltimore Elementary and was the heart and soul of the Home and School Committee for this school.
From there, things snowballed, and she became a part of the Special Education Advisory Committee with WQSB, Quebec Home and School and the English Parent Committee Association.
As people began to recognise her passion, knowledge, and opinions, she added President of EPCA, Parent Commissioner for Elementary for WQSB, and member of an Advisory Committee for Bill 86. She met members of the community, spoke at the Quebec Legislature, and spoke with Quebec media.
She spoke of inclusion in Quebec classrooms, supporting teachers, the importance of English schools in rural communities, as well as the importance of making sure the rural schools have the tools, resources, and opportunities as any urban school in Quebec.

She was the first Parent Commissioner to be the Vice-Chair of a School Board, put EPCA on the map as President for 4 years and continuously dedicated herself to the kids. She wanted to make a difference, help parents be heard, and she never wanted any recognition for her hard work.
She deserves to be recognized and receive a huge “thank you” from all of us. She continued to attend meetings until the very end. The school community was so lucky to have her, and there will never be another woman like Rhonda.

During the course of her selfless devotion to her family and community she has forgone employment opportunities that would have offered extended benefits to assist with the financial burdens that her family is now facing and will face in the future. The past few years, during her battle with cancer, has put a huge financial strain on her family and they will continue to face this struggle.
Myself along with her family/friends/colleagues would like to ensure that she is celebrated and memorialized befitting the life of such a selfless wonderful person. We would like to assist the family through fundraising efforts for her memorial and funeral costs. We ask the community that benefited from the hard work and dedication and many years of community service Rhonda has so selfless championed to please financially help Rhonda and her family.
