Rhoda's Road to Recovery :o)

Hello Loved-Ones, Family, Friends, Weight Watchers Co-Workers & Staff, Weight Watchers Members, and the Gym Comrades of Rhoda Williams,

My name is Sirena Williams and I’m the daughter of Rhoda Williams and I’m writing this letter on behalf of myself and my brother Justin Williams.

On Tuesday, May 23, 2017, Rhoda suffered from a brain aneurysm (The medical term is Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage). It ruptured into a severe bleed causing her to have a seizure and go into a coma. She underwent an emergency 10 Hour-long brain surgery. She stayed in the coma for a over 24 hours BUT JESUS has been so good to us because she’s still here! She was in the Georgetown University Hospital ICU department for a little over three weeks. Then she was transferred to the National Rehabilitation Hospital. She will be there for the next several weeks. The National Rehabilitation Hospital is helping her everyday relearn how to talk, how to walk, and how to perform daily activities independently again.

We’ve had so many people (who really care for and love our mom) asking where can they make a donation(s). She’s been such a blessing to so many people and your donation will be greatly appreciated. The money donated will be used to pay for medical expenses not covered by insurance and to help with daily living expenses. Please keep Rhoda in your thoughts and prayers and thank you for your support. Your thoughts, prayers and generous donations are sincerely appreciated. Our prayer for you is that God will continue to lead, guide and direct your path and that “you will prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth”. (III John 2 - KJV)

I would like to leave you with a couple of relevant quotes from a book I’m reading called Managing Brain Injury-A Guide to Living Well with Brain Injury.

“My therapists help me understand that people who sustain traumatic brain injury have to re-establish pathways from the brain to the body.  In order to do this, they have to learn everything all over again.  I had to relearn how to walk, relearn how to talk, relearn how to concentrate and read, relearn how to perform daily activities.”  - Rabbi Lynne Landsberg

“A catastrophic brain injury, multiple surgeries, extended hospital stays, aggressive therapies to achieve a set of goals, a faith journey, and having to relearn everything to become independent again, has been a transformation of trials into triumphs.”  - Selina Brijsbaji

PS. Rhoda is not quite ready to have guests (outside of her siblings and children) visit her at the rehabilitation hospital but rest assure you will be able to hug on her neck very soon.

xoxoxo,
Sirena Williams
