Support Shane’s Recovery

Donation protected
Hi. My name is Amanda Stanley, and this GoFundMe is for my oldest brother, Shane. If you’ve never met Shane, you should know a few things about him.

1. He loves sports
2. He only wears track pants
3. His dogs are his children
4. He loves his wife, Ang, more than anything

Shane is a quiet and reserved guy who doesn’t want to cause discomfort or burden anyone. He’s not one to readily share his problems or ask for help. He’s the type to remind you that things will always look up, to remember how strong you are, and to keep going. He’s always been one of my biggest supporters and encouragers.

In February, Shane started having pain in his abdomen that wouldn’t go away. The pain only increased with each doctor visit, trip to the pharmacy, and tried remedy. Ang was doing everything she could to find him help and relief, but it felt like the doctors weren’t listening and only sending them away. Finally, on February 13, the doctors at BJC listened. They took Shane seriously and began moving in the direction of finding answers. On February 14, we were given the terrible news that a mass in Shane’s colon was most likely cancerous. Our family was shocked, saddened, and mostly worried about his wife, Ang. We rallied around her as Shane was taken into emergency surgery. One week later, Shane was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to three lymph nodes and his to liver.

We all know that a cancer diagnosis is daunting. Most of us have had co-workers, friends, or family diagnosed with cancer and watched them undergo various treatments. It is a long and arduous path. Shane will start chemo later this month and continue with that until it’s no longer necessary. He will see his doctors regularly and do everything he can to improve.

The doctors have encouraged us that Shane can beat this diagnosis. And he and our family are doing our best to stay positive and believe that.

What that means for Shane and Ang:

Shane was unable to return to work after surgery and will not be working during the first few months of chemo treatments. Taking time off and focusing on his healing is in his best interest.

Ang will be working and also caring for Shane.

They have a deductible of $4500 for the year.

What we are asking for:

Monetary donations will go toward Shane’s medical bills. Anything beyond the deductible will go towards groceries and utility payments, as well as supplementing income lost.

”Shane’s Care Package” wishlist can be found on Amazon, if you’d like to support that way.

Prayers! Ang firmly believes in the power of good vibes, prayers, and positivity. Our family all holds faith and positivity close to our hearts. We all ask for their abundance to be poured into our family.

Thank you for however you can help. None of it is wasted. All of it is felt and appreciated.
