Hi, we are Rhi’s Support Team a group of dedicated Support Workers who have the absolute joy of walking beside a vibrant, determined, and truly inspiring young lady - Rhi.

At 17, Rhi’s big dream is to own her very own ice cream van a colourful, music-filled little truck where she can share joy, connection, and sprinkles of happiness with the world.

And by her side is her loyal assistance dog, Opy, who never leaves her side and helps make the impossible feel possible.

Rhi’s Journey

Rhi lives with autism, an Acquired Brain Injury, and complex medical needs. Her daily life involves navigating seizures, a heart condition, immune compromised, and significant sensory challenges – all while needing 2:1 support to stay safe and engaged in her world.

But despite these challenges, Rhi lights up every room she enters. She is cheeky, determined, creative, and full of heart. She doesn’t give up and we won’t either.

Rhi communicates and connects in her own way and one of her favourite things in the world is seeing the ice cream van come down her street. The sound of the music, the bright colours and the friendly face serving her a treat. It’s not just dessert, it’s joy in a cone.

From Dream to Reality

With support, Rhi started a small business called “Rhi & Opy’s Sweet Delights” selling lolly and dessert boxes filled with love. But her big dream is to take it on the road.

Owning her own Ice Cream Van would give Rhi the chance to:

• Run a business that suits her abilities and needs

• Spread joy in her community, just like the van does for her

• Work side-by-side with her support workers and even offer supported employment for others with disabilities

• Have a purpose, identity, and independence beyond her medical labels

This isn’t just about a van.

It’s about inclusion, empowerment, and creating real opportunities.

What We Need

We are fundraising to help Rhi purchase a sensory-friendly ice cream van a space where she can safely participate in running her dream business with the support of her team.

The costs include:

• A reliable van

• Branding and interior fit-out for soft serve and lollies

• Setup for training and support staff

While we are starting with the essentials, we hope to add further accessibility features as more funding becomes available.
