Rhino Going To Nationals!!

Rhino Slam is on their way to nationals! This is the second year in a row for our team and the first time at Nationals for many of our players. We can't wait to compete at the biggest tournament of the year!
Nationals will be awesome but unfortunately this means another round of flights, lodging, rental cars, and tournament bid fee (which alone is $3240). This is a huge expense on our players and is a financial commitment that some of our players are currently not in a position to make. Money should not be the reason why a teammate can't participate in an achievement they worked hard to earn over the course of the season and lose out on an amazing opportunity to play at the top level of ultimate. Money should not prevent someone from playing the sport they love at the highest level they can, nor can we ask our players to put themselves in a financially unstable position in their day to day life. Rhino Slam understands that elite ultimate is still largely afforded to the most fortunate members of our community. Our team is trying to change that by taking players on our team based on how well they play and not how much disposable income they have. It is because of this reason that we have several members of our team who simply cannot afford the extra expenses that is inherent to club Nationals.
We are already exercising internal financial aid, fundraising events and merchandise sales. Creating this GoFundMe is simply another avenue to ask for support from our fans, family, and friends for us to help lower the financial burden this opportunity has on our players. We are asking you to donate to our team not because we want to make the expenses of our entire team lower, but to lower or eliminate the burden of this cost for players who would not be able to play at this tournament otherwise. Rhino will be hosting a free youth clinic in the fall for the Portland community (time/location TBD) because we believe that this is a two-way street.
