When life Throws You a Curve Ball

Hi All - When life throws you a curve ball or a bump in the path what is the message? I have practiced in life that any illness or accident is a reminder that I did not see the subtle message before the planet had to yell and if I do not listen and change then I will get yelled at again.

I have spent my life immersed in the horse world – it is elaborate with all its’ micro worlds. The study of all these, the why’s and the how’s have become my fascination. I have come from being effective in getting horses to perform (over, under or through you are going) to now building a program/system that treats the horse as an equal, enhancing/creating conversation, choice, harmony and trust.

Currently, I am on my way to Horse Woods Haven an 80 acre property in Columbia, KY being developed by Susan Eoff as a retreat center and high quality horse rescue and retirement center. I am going to drop off one deserving horse to spend a year, picking up a Thoroughbred for Retired Racehorse Project and 2 other successfully rehabbed rescue horses for moving onto their forever homes.

Hello curve ball – my truck died so new engine needed in Kansas City. For now, I have borrowed a car and am in KY. This has been a significant bump in the road for this horse rescue project as well as other plans I have made for this year. Namely, a shareable, standalone system named Equine-Humanistics™. A program I have spent years in development and refinement. This summer was my time to share more, create the videos and choose the platform to effectively share on.

I will move forward for sure with the horse rescue, but this hitch considerably slows momentum I have gained; meaning my training program will be delayed at least 6 months or a year due to the financial constraint of replacing a $25,000 motor.

I have been stubbornly independent and for the most part have not relied on friends and others. The very hard part of this is to have to reach out for help - that is a life lesson within myself. I am asking for your assistance in the cost to repair the truck to move forward with horse rescue and training programs.

Thank you for reading. Assistance in any amount is appreciated. I look forward to returning to Colorado as soon as I am able.

The Recovery and the Message - Sunday 21st

Six days on from the smokey explosion. I am in Kentucky at Horse Woods Haven an 80 acre horse rescue and retirement farm. Getting to spend more days than I originally planned, I get to see and feel the magic.
I have been told my many sources that ‘horses will heal the world’. My current question I am milling on is ‘how’?
Up until now my understanding of ‘human and horse’ interaction is, we care for, train and ride them. Yes ,that can be therapeutic for both parties but is that the extent of it?
With that question out there along comes Emelie Cajsdotter from Sweden, who is in the middle of answering the same question, and speaks so clearly about what it is. Bingo more understanding.
The 8 horses here are all different breeds, ages, sexes and sizes. Each comes with a huge ‘story’ of what they have been through in life. The newest to the herd came 3 months ago and the others vary up to 2 yrs ago. Because of the flies they live out together at night and in stalls by day. The 80 acres is divided into 4 huge pastures so plenty of room to move. Sue is 100% dedicated to being their caretaker with zero expectation from them – everything is done for their mental and physical comfort.
Yesterday I got to begin 4 of the horses on my Equine-Humanistics program. A stranger to them taking them from their stall into the indoor and working with them. When I got to the 4th horse I had a huge epiphany on another question I have had hung out for answering for many years – ‘how do I wean horses that are married to each other’ (happens when 2 horses ride together in a horse trailer). I saw and felt the answer yesterday – huge lightbulb moment. I am a ways off being able to verbalize it effectively but I get it now.
Being raised on a farm I instinctively know ‘herd’ dynamic – I have just taken it for granted that everyone knows that on a level. Another epiphany that no that is not a fact. The understanding of this is the part that horses can offer humans. My E-H program is about creating a functioning ‘herd of 2’ – I see more clearly where I am going. I bless and thank the truck!!
Sorry had a great photo to add to this but does not want to load....ugh. Will send separate
