Rhett’s Children Stollery Hospital Help
Donation protected
Hi friends, family, loved ones or anyone else who has come across our fundraiser. I want to add that this is the last thing I’ve ever wanted to do, asking people for money and is my last resort. A little back story. My 2yr old son Rhett has had asthma since he was 6 months old and has been very closly monitored since. A few nights ago I had him in bed with me because he was sick running a fever. I woke up to check his temperature and horrifically saw 105 on our thermometer. He was retracting at his ribs, breathing taking about 55-60 breaths a minute. I called 911 who came and then told me it was just a cold. The next morning his fever still hadn’t broke and he was becoming blue around the mouth. I rushed him to emergency where he was triaged and admitted. After waiting for over 8hrs and getting into a room we started running tests. The doctor said he has severe pneumonia and it had spread into both lungs. Since being so tiny and being an asthmatic child he was put on oxygen right away and is being very closely monitored. Especially close so we don’t risk needing to potentially go into surgery. We have a long road ahead of us here at the Children’s Stollery Hospital as a e’ve already been here for 3 days and are looking at being here even longer due to his extreamly high fevers and low oxygen. Then when the time does come to be released a new journey will start at recovering at home, but again we don’t even know when that will be. As Rhett’s mom and main provider and caregiver I have already missed many days of work and will now be missing more. I’m a single parent with no help from his biological father. Having to miss more work is extremely terrifying and is going to financially strain me… especially during the holidays. Asking for money is extremely hard for me, but leaving my little 2 year old child’s side when his health currently is so unpredictable is not an option. Anyone that knows Rhett knows he’s a spunky, sassy, most caring loving little boy. He is fighting and I know he will come out of this stronger in the end. As I take time to be here with him while he goes through this challenge of fighting off this virus and bacterial infection, anything will help. Even just sharing helps. Thank you if you have read this far, and thank you to anyone that is able to help especially during the holiday season. I will be giving updates through here as much as I can. Thank you ❤️
