Help Jane Heal

HELP JANE HEAL!

Summary: Jane was taking a walk when an SUV hit her with significant force. Severe injuries to her head and body required hospitalization and will require indefinite rehabilitation. She did not have insurance at the time of the accident, so your donation will be crucial, to help Jane heal. Please help us raise $100,000.00 for her care at the new Rehab facility and the looming hospital bills. Thank you for your care, prayer, and generosity! Please feel free to share the information on this page with your trusted Bible Study, ministry group, prayer network, UMW, Church newsletter, District or Conference ministry network.

Read more about her story below.

In the blink of an eye, her life changed forever.
On the morning of December 29, 2021, the driver of an SUV did not see Jane crossing the street and when the light turned green, accelerated into her body. She rolled over the hood and lay motionless on the concrete. Providentially, a state trooper across the intersection witnessed the event and called for ambulance transport to the nearest hospital, where Jane underwent immediate surgery to protect her swelling brain. After removing 30% of her skull and the hematomas on her brain, the ER also assessed a broken left shoulder and cracked vertebrae between her shoulder blades. That evening, Jane’s local family members were allowed into ICU, to say goodnight to Jane, as Chicago slipped into another lockdown.

Struck down, but not destroyed…
Jane was barely conscious when the New Year rolled in. Prayers of gratitude that she was alive were mingled with pleas for her healing and recovery. It took nearly two dark weeks for Jane to understand why she was in a hospital bed with such excruciating pain, and why she was alone.

Her severe brain trauma has resulted in optical nerve damage – one of her eyes still cannot open voluntarily. To be candid, Jane’s head, upper body and pelvic trauma has made her entire body system so lethargic, it is hard for her to hold her own cup. It is like the Energizer Bunny on it’s last .01% of battery life. Being connected to a urethral catheter makes it hard for Jane to put on a body brace, neck brace, shoulder sling and helmet, and then accept assistance to stand up, with her good arm.

Meanwhile, separated by distance and limited visitation, we have cheered her on from afar and daily lift up prayers on her behalf. We celebrate the memories she recalls, her attempts to roll over despite pain, her ability to eat a meal without a feeding tube, and her desire to “journey forward.”

For those of you who may not know Jane very well,
She is one of the brightest lights we know. In a normal year, she gives hundreds of talks all over the country and world, leads bible studies with participants joining internationally, runs writers conferences, officiates weddings, coaches budding authors, and authors her own devotionals, articles, and books. The world needs her vibrant and joy-inspiring presence, and her family is grateful for any help getting her through her recovery.

“The best is yet to come,” she breathed with a smile.
Jane’s survival of this accident is nothing short of miraculous. We invite you into the miracle of Jane’s recovery journey! Please contribute to Jane’s current care by clicking either of the links to make payments via PayPal or Zelle! We hope to raise $100,000.00 for these out-of-pocket transitional expenses at the Rehab Center and the months ahead. Every monetary gift* will fund an important part of Jane’s daily care, whether room & board, skilled nursing, physical therapy, or other facility fees. An Affordable Care insurance policy has been initiated, but it doesn’t take effect until February 1st and it will have limited coverage, with a sizeable Deductible.

If you believe your community or group would like to help Jane, feel free to share this link with them. We would like Jane to be able to decide when and what is shared on open FaceBook and other general social media platforms, though. Thank you for becoming part of her story, and for helping her get back on to her feet, so that Jane can keep walking with God on the path to which God has called her. We believe that one day, she will again write, love, lead  and speak as only she can, at Conferences around the world! We are believing, as Jane said in a soft but emphatic tone recently, “The best is yet to come.”

“Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58

“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body." 2 Corinthians 4:9-11
