Support the Brady Family

We are setting up this account to help Jenny's family in any way we can – medical bills, funeral expenses or even to go towards Emerson's college education.

In September 2011, Jennifer Brady was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer of the lung and successfully completed chemotherapy, radiation, and preventative brain radiation with all treatments ending in March 2012.

After a quiet year with nothing but recovery and "normal" life, Jennifer and Ben embarked on their next chapter: parenthood. Baby B's due date was December 4th, 2013 (the day after Jennifer's birthday). However, life threw them yet another curve ball when a lump was discovered in Jennifer's lower back in late July. A biopsy confirmed the same cancer had returned, this time to the fatty tissues in the back as well as the liver.

On November 20th, Jenny wrote this CaringBridge update: "More to come when we return home, but Ben and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our son, Emerson William. He arrived at 1:27p on November 19 weighing 5.2 lbs and is 18 inches. Thankfully, he's perfectly healthy and will be coming home with us tomorrow. We couldn't be happier!"

Over the last two years, little Emerson has been the center of Ben and Jennifer's world. Sadly, the last two years have also come with setbacks, as Jenny's cancer came back in her liver and spread to her breast and brain.

From Ben's CaringBridge post on Dec. 13: Early Saturday, just as her parents arrived at the hospice house, Jenny opened her eyes briefly and slowly stopped breathing. Jenny quietly passed away mid-morning 12/12.

Jenny showed such determination and strength as she fought the good fight. She showed how to love – how to really love. Her light continued to shine brightly – even when her body was physically weak. She was a loyal friend – an inspiration to each of us.

For those of us who knew Jenny, she will never (EVER) be forgotten. We've always been on her team, cheering her on along the way. Now we get to keep cheering, as we continue on her legacy.

This account has been created for the Brady Family by two of Jenny's friends and Kappa Delta sisters. When we are part of a group (any group – a family, friendship, team at work, sorority/fraternity, church, etc.), it is powerful when we become a united front to help those in need. We have all been impacted by Jenny in one way or another – we can come together here to help carry on her legacy.

With love in AOT,
Mandy Miller & Kari Brett
