As you may know, a Derecho recently tore through Iowa. This intense storm damaged and destroyed buildings and utility lines throughout the state, leaving many without adequate shelter or power. Over a week later, much work is still needed to remedy the damages suffered across the state, and many are suffering.
The Iowa chapter of the SRA is seeking donations to purchase shelf-stable ready-to-eat food and bottled water as well as other emergency supplies to distribute to some of the hardest hit and most vulnerable populations throughout the state, including assisted living centers and low-income housing complexes that suffered extensive damage and still do not have power and other utilities.
Our members have already contributed one carload of supplies to this effort, but it's clear that more is needed. We thank you for helping us help our communities.
