Rhea has lost her home to the fires.

Our beloved Rhea Warkentin and her two girls Ziana and Aurora have lost their home and everything they had in the fire that tore through the North Shuswap on Friday, August 18. Raised in Lee Creek, a community that was about to celebrate their 50th anniversary, Rhea was living in the family homestead and raising her two girls on her own.
The three of them fled with camping gear, a few precious keepsakes and a herd of 3 cats and 10 kittens, all piled into an old 2002 S10 named Tom. With the main highway closed, Rhea drove 3 hours up and out of the North Shuswap via logging roads.
She travelled all night, rerouted through Vernon to reach the Kamloops Evacuation Centre, where she was reunited with other community members.
She decided to spend Saturday night with a friend in Kamloops, who also graciously took in one of the mama cats with her 6 newborns. Sunday afternoon, Rhea drove the girls to spend some time with their father in Burnaby. She continued onto the Sunshine Coast where she learned that the house was gone. Despite the raw shock and immense journey of rebuilding a home and life, Rhea is strong and in good spirits.
Finding a secure place to live this winter, close to the schools that the girl attend, is a priority now.
Beyond that, is the task of obtaining all that is needed to move forward, such as clothing, furniture, kitchen housewares, bedding etc. Basically everything.

For a really long time Rhea was a pillar in the BC dance community. The Vancouver Aquarius Party was her annual fashion variety show that was a mainstay in the underground party scene. Early Shambhala would not have been the same without her; who can forget the underwear fashion show on the skate ramp. The Bush Babe Brigade contributed and produced many majic events that helped bring in the Aquarian age. If you know, you know. From the great music to the medicine bags, Rhea gave a lot to our circle. She needs our help. It is time to give back to her.
