Hello All!
The Peewee Stickney Wolfpack Cheerleading Team is composed of 14 young girls between the ages of 9-12 years old. Our program promotes educational excellence as well as sport success. All of the girls are academic scholars and must maintain good grades in order to continue to participate on the team. The girls come from underrepresented, underprivileged and low socioeconomic neighborhoods. This is why Stickney Cheer is requesting your help!
The girls received 1st place in the Chicagoland Cheerleading Competition this year. They are competing in the Mid America Regional Competition in hopes to represent the Mid America region at Nationals in Orlando, Florida. The team has worked VERY hard all season in order to accomplish this goal. Unfortunately, the girls and their families do not have sufficient funds to cover travel expenses to Florida in order to represent the state of Illinois.
It’s heartbreaking to see these young girls work so hard to come this close to accomplishing their goal and not be able to compete because of lack of financial resources. There are not many youth programs or sports in the neighborhoods these girls live in and the few sports available are not available for girls. Stickney Wolfpack Cheer welcomes children from many of the surrounding towns and the outskirts of Chicago. These girls truly believe they can measure up to their competitors if given the opportunity. Their hard work and dedication proves that these girls deserve to compete for the championship title and their socioeconomic status should not be the factor that prevents them from making their dream come true!
