Support Mike Laycock's Fight Against ALS

Hello friends,

We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt request on behalf of our sister, Lindsay Laycock, and her family. Lindsay’s husband, Mike Laycock has been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Lou Gehrig’s Disease. ALS is a debilitating neurodegenerative disease that has taken away his ability to move freely, play with his kids, and perform simple daily tasks.

Mike’s journey began in 2020 when he started to experience unexplained muscle weakness and fatigue in his arm. After numerous tests and consultations, the diagnosis was confirmed in early 2023: ALS, a condition with no known cure. Since the diagnosis, Mike and Lindsay have faced each day with an incredible amount of courage and optimism. Their positive spirit has been a beacon of hope, not just for our family, but for everyone who knows them.

The progression of the disease means Mike requires adaptive equipment for daily living and specialized care to ensure his comfort and well-being. As Mike’s condition progresses, his family is faced with expenses that go well beyond the coverage of traditional medical insurance. We've created a GoFundMe campaign to help alleviate some of the financial burdens that their family faces. The funds raised will actively go directly towards:

1. Medical Equipment: Specialized equipment such as a wheelchair and a handicapped-accessible vehicle is crucial for his independence and comfort. A wheelchair and accessibility will provide a quality of life outside of the home for them to enjoy outings as a family.

2. Home Modifications: Installing ramps, widening doorways, and modifying bathrooms to accommodate his needs.

3. Medical Expenses: Ongoing treatments, medications, and in-home care services adds up quickly.

4. Support and Care: Lindsay works full time out of the home and Mike requires a team of professional caregivers who can offer him the care he needs to be present with his family.

Mike and Lindsay have always been there for their family and friends. Now, it's our turn to support them. Your generosity, no matter how big or small, will make a profound difference for Mike and his family.
