On February 16, 2015 Rich was driving to work when he was hit head on by a vehicle that lost Co troll due to weather conditions. Rich was removed from his vehicle but the jaws of life. He was then taken to Hartford Hospital by Life Star.
Rich had broken his clavicle, broken hip, broken femur and two breaks I his knee. He has had three surgeries to repair all his breaks. His femur was repaired with a rod through his entire length. His hip has a large screw going into the ball of his hip and is attached to the plate anchored to his femur. Both knee breaks were repaired with plates as well.
Rich is doing great and having a great attitude but he does have a long road ahead of him as there could be more surgeries in the future And will not be able to go back to work for awhile.
His car was totaled so they will have to replace it with a new one. The person who hit him had the state minimum insurance so most of the bills will fall on Rich and Tracey.
Unfortunately, the bills are still coming in even though Rich can not work.
