Rhain Rodenbeck is the son of LeeAnn Smith who is one of my very special teachers at Bullfrogs and Butterflies childcare center. Rhain was diagnosed with stage 3 nodular lymphocyte- predominant Hodgkin's which is a really rare sub type (less then 5% of people with lymphoma get this kind). Right before Christmas he was diagnosed and started his chemo treatments on January 3rd. As a mom I can't imagine getting the news that your teenage son has cancer and processing the dynamic of that all. Rhain's hope was to enlist in the National Guard to help pay for his college education and finish out his senior year just like any other typical high school student. Rhain loves to play tennis and enjoys spending time with his friends and family. He is a sweet and compassionate boy that has a ton of fight in him and just wants to get through his chemo treatments so he can continue to be a typical teenage boy full filling all of his hopes and dreams just like we would want for our own children. I believe in the power of prayer and that people can move mountains if we all come together. I have seen it in this community so many times and I know as parents if you put yourself in this mom's shoes you can only imagine the lack of sleep, the worry that your child is concerned about his appearance, the reaction of his peers and if they are going to except him, your child not being able to participate in events during his senior year in high school because he is just to sick to attend, and most of all the worry that he's going to lose hope. I know that that the medical bills are piling up and that they need any help that we can provide. Please be a part of our army...we need your support for a sweet, young man that deserves nothing but the best! Just think what if it was your child.............
