Hi, my name is Tawnya and I'm Mark's youngest child. On October 4th the hardest decision of mine and my mother's life took place. On September 29th, he woke up not acting like himself and ended up hurting himself by falling and he was taken to the hospital.
I was called by a doctor and told of his condition. Mark had two strokes and a brain bleed. He was living with a heart pump and with that, he had to be on blood thinners to keep from clots forming in the machine. Because he needed the blood thinners there was nothing that could be done about the brain bleed.
When we arrived on October 4th, we were told by the doctors that he ended up having several more strokes which had left him very weak on his left side of his body. His personality had also been altered by the strokes. His quality of life was now the topic.
After several hours of thinking and discussing with the doctors we made the decision to let Mark go peacefully. He was not going to recover.
On October 4th, Mark passed away surrounded by his family at 3:00PM.
Mark wasn't able to work and was on social security which meant he had no life insurance. There were also no savings available to fulfill his final wishes. His wishes were very simple: cremation, no viewing, no funeral. Sadly, even with very simple wishes, the price is still high. We ask for anyone to donate, even if it's a little bit. We want to honour Mark's last wish so please, please help us out. Thank you very much for reading.
