Mental Health Treatment that Works!
Donation protected
We are seeking donations and help in getting the word out that we are here in Seattle and open to new clients. Donations will help us to fund clients who have financial barriers to affording treatment. We are a small agency and can only serve a limited number of pro-bono clients.
Affiliated Mental Health, a private fee for service agency, was founded in Seattle in 1988. We provide intensive case management and counseling to adults with major mental health issues and also have a case management program for adults with Asperger's Syndrome (high functioning autism).
We are family friendly encouraging the family to be a part of the treatment team, offering consultation and counseling to further positive outcomes for both client and family. Our program is highly personalized, focusing on the strength of the client, their treatment goals and identifying what may keep them from meeting these goals. We meet the majority of our clients in the community and actively work with them to be as independent as possible, to adjust behaviors to ensure community living that is safe and productive.
We are mindful of physical health needs and work closely with others involved professionally with our clients to ensure coordination of care.
By working in the community in a familiar setting, we become a part of the client's life and develop a relationship with them which promotes treatment compliance and more positive outcomes. Clients are seen frequently so we have a pulse on potential crises. We run a 24 hour crisis line and are able to provide intervention. Our clients are seldom hospitalized while in our care.
It is important to note that there are only a few programs that serve adults with Aspergers Syndrome. We created a casemanagement approach for the needs of these clients in 2004. Many suffer from depression, have obsessive compulsive disorder and difficulty with social skills. Schools are mandated to provide programs to students on the autism spectrum until age 21. When they leave school many become isolated, depressed and hopeless. We welcome these clients and would like to get the word out that we are here with an effective approach.
Most public mental health centers do not serve private pay clients so we fill an important need for this population. Washington State ranks 48th in the country in providing adequate mental heath treatment. There are not enough services available, the amount of commitment beds is inadequate, crisis services are overwhelmed. At times patients who are at risk to harm themselves or others are being turned away or held in jails while awaiting evaluation. As in the media of late, improvement is slower than the courts will accept.
Our approach at Affiliated Mental Health would help to reduce some of this situation. We are there with our clients to help prevent crisis. We are also available to take people who are not being admitted to hospitals because there are no beds or they do not meet the legal critreria for committment. We also take people on court mandated less restrictive orders for treatment in the community and few of our clients are rehospitalized.
We currently have 3 mental health clients who are underfunded and one Asperger's Syndrome adult wanting to get into treatment. All are well motivated and those already in the program are clearly making progress and remaining stable. Please help sponsor these deserving clients.
Our program works. Our clients improve and have a better quality of life. The lack of treatment available is a complex and difficult situation that affects not only the individuals who suffer without treatment but also the general population. Lack of treatment often impacts public safety.
Be a part of the solution. Please help us to expand our client base and assist those who have financial barriers in obtaining treatment.
