Funds for Finn!
Donation protected
Anyone who knows Amber gets that she is one of the most selfless people you’ll ever meet, but if you don’t know her, let me fill you in. The first person to drop everything and roll up her sleeves to help others, she has a GIGANTIC heart, sees the good in everyone, is generous, and has more kindness in her pinky finger than most people have in their entire being. She’s always about family, community, and kindness.
50 days ago, Amber (and her main squeeze, Sloan) welcomed a wee little boy named Finnegan into the world, 9 weeks early and after struggling with pregnancy complications (brought on by a jelly-like placenta that wasn’t giving Finn enough nourishment to grow). The good news is that, even though Finn arrived MUCH too early, he has miraculously fought through some serious obstacles (including surgery yesterday for two severe hernias that were interfering with his bowels).
The punches keep coming, but Finn (and his posse) keep rolling with them and riding a constant emotional roller coaster, as so many other families with NICU babies do.
Life! It creates obstacles for all of us, I know, but sometimes we need to get by with a little help from our friends!
And although they would not ask for it themselves, I KNOW they could use our help - both financially and otherwise. With Amber at BC Children’s with Finn and Sloan travelling back and forth from Penticton to Vancouver all the time and recovering from his own hernia surgery a couple months ago, they are both exhausted and things are getting tight. They weren’t expecting these extra expenses nor a prolonged hospital stay, but they are doing their best not to stress about the financial side of things so they can focus on Finn healing, growing and thriving.
I say what better time than right now to show our sense of community and send some love to some really good people! If you can spare some funds to help them out, excellent! If you can’t but you still want to help, you can do any of the following:
1) Donate any baby items (in good condition and clean, please) that appear on their wishlist
2) Share this on your social media and tag anyone who knows them. The more people we reach, the better!
3) Send them a message, a video, some positive vibes to let them know you are thinking about all of them.
PLUS,
I’m also holding a fundraiser with two days of Photo sessions (family, couples, pets, headshots, etc.) If you want to donate and get some sweet photos for it, here are the details:
Kamloops June 23rd and 24th:
Fundraiser for Finn!
$150 donation for a 20-minute mini session and 3 high-resolution images (families, couples, pets, headshots…)
100% of the proceeds will go to Amber and her family.
I have room for eight sessions per day, so if you want in, just send money to them through this page and then email me at [email redacted]. You can see my work at https://www.jojohnsonphoto.ca
They still have a long way to go until Finn gets cleared to go home and live his life (hopefully with a clean bill of health), so thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read this, donate, offer your love and support, and send them all high vibes!
Here is the start of their baby items wishlist:
Diaper genie
Baby monitor
Sleep sacks
Baby thermometer
Swaddle blanket
Baby bathtub
Baby bath towel
