Liebe Unterstützer*innen,

endlich möchte ich euch ein Update geben – denn es ist viel passiert!

Meine Reise durch Südamerika war ein Einblick in ein Projekt, das bis heute wächst. Während ich aktuell am Schnitt des Films arbeite, möchte ich euch zeigen, was eure Unterstützung bewirkt hat – gemeinsam mit vielen weiteren engagierten Menschen und zusätzlichen Mitteln.

Was eure Spenden bereits ermöglicht haben:

Mit den Geldern – darunter auch eure Spenden über GoFundMe – konnte das Regenwald-Institut viele wichtige Ziele umsetzen:

Photovoltaikanlage: Versorgt das Gelände mit Strom – unabhängig und nachhaltig.

Trinkwasseraufbereitung: Da Brunnenbohrungen im Schwemmland scheiterten, wird nun Regenwasser gesammelt, aufbereitet und genutzt.

Motorboot: Ein eigenes Boot sorgt für Unabhängigkeit bei Transport und Logistik.

Internet via Satellit: Zugang für das Institut, die Schule und die Bewohner*innen in der Region.

Abwasseranlage: Umweltfreundliche Abwasserbehandlung durch anaerobe Technik.

️ Lagerhalle: Lagerung und Verarbeitung von Produkten wie Paranussöl oder Drachenblut – inkl. Duschbereich und Technikraum für Ölpresse & Co.

Nächste Schritte:

⚙️ Finanzierung einer Ölpresse

Waldinventur: Als nächstes steht die Finanzierung einer umfassenden Waldinventur an – um das Potenzial für nachhaltige Waldnutzung systematisch zu erfassen.

Grundstückserweiterung: Durch ein großzügiges Erbe konnte ein weiteres, ökologisch wertvolles Regenwaldgebiet am Rio Madeira gesichert werden – mit Schwarzwasserflüssen und hoher Artenvielfalt.

Kurse für Sammler: Drei Dorfgemeinschaften nehmen an Schulungen teil, um Bäume wie Kopaiba oder Drachenblut nachhaltig und schonend zu ernten.

Update: The rainforest is thriving – and growing! The film is on its way .

Dear supporters,

It’s time for a long-overdue update – because a lot has happened!

My journey through South America was just the beginning of a project that continues to grow. While I’m currently deep into editing the film, I want to share what your support has already helped accomplish – together with many dedicated people and additional funding.

What your donations helped make possible:

With the funds – including your contributions through GoFundMe – and other sources like a generous inheritance, the Rainforest-Institute / Regenwald-Institut has achieved some incredible milestones:

Solar power system: Supplies clean, independent electricity for the project site.

Rainwater treatment system: Since well drilling failed due to the silty soil, rainwater is now collected, filtered and used for drinking.

Motorboat purchased: Ensures much-needed transportation and autonomy on the river.

Internet via Satellite: A game-changer for the Institute, the local school and nearby communities.

Sustainable wastewater system: A modern anaerobic system has been installed.

️ Storage facility (completed!): Now in operation – to store and process non-timber forest products like Brazil nut oil, copaiba or dragon’s blood resin. Includes a shower area and a small workshop for oil pressing.

What’s next:

⚙️ Financing an oil press.

Forest inventory: The next goal is to finance a detailed inventory of the forest – to assess the potential for sustainable harvesting.

New rainforest area secured: With the help of a donation from an inheritance, the Institute was able to purchase another valuable piece of rainforest – rich in biodiversity and including blackwater rivers.

Training for local collectors: Three local communities are now involved and receiving hands-on training on how to harvest without harming the trees – ensuring long-term, forest-friendly livelihoods.

The Amazon can be used economically and ecologically at the same time. It doesn't need to be exploited for wood, mono cultures and mines!

Colombian students explain the Amazon

Hi, my name is Julian :). I cycle South America for a precious and sustainable project, which is located in the middle of this amazing jungle. I will support this project by collecting donations and by giving you a look inside the mysterious world of the Amazon. Dr. Rainer Putz from the rain forest institute will support me and give me all important informations I need for such a trip.

I invite you to dive into the culture and nature of South America for 6 months. From September 2022 till the end of February 2023 the high Andes and the deep jungle will be my daily challenge. Join this ride on Instagram and let's experience the nature, let's understand the way the people there live and think and let's collect donations to make a sustainable project successful. My destinations are Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil. The end of my journey will be the project itself, which is located in the middle of the Brazilian jungle. There we will see the effect of this crowdfunding and we will experience, how precious such an intact jungle is.

The Regenwaldinstitut / rain forest institute bought 24km² rainforest in the middle of the Brazilian Amazon. They developed a way to use the Amazon economically and ecologically. By collecting raw materials like seeds from the intact jungle and selling them, the Amazon gets a completely new value: it saves the people a monthly income.

This way of symbiosis invalidates arguments such as: "The Amazon is economically worthless". This invalidation is so important, as we do not only have ecological arguments but also economical ones against the destroyers of the Amazon.

GOALS

10.000€. - First Goal - a boat and solar panels

70.000€. - Second Goal - a satellite communication system and support to build the house, where locals will live to protect the 24km² from deforestation. Besides that, the house will include a guest room and later on there shall be a station for scientists (see below).

Third Goal - If we reach the first goals, they would love to build a scientific station and even buy more rain forest.

If we want to slow down global warming and species loss, we have to act!

One key to this is the protection of the Amazon rainforests. After 25 years of project and development work in Amazonia, we know that lasting rainforest protection is best achieved in close cooperation with the traditional population groups who live in and from the forest.

Regenwald-Institut e.V. and Regenwaldladen stand for a sustainable use of the Amazon forests by the traditional population. Locally produced, unique, high-quality luxury and body care products are the result of our many years of project cooperation. This makes a part of the incredible biodiversity of this habitat, which is so important for the world's climate, sustainably usable. They generate reliable income for the population and protect the forest at the same time.

In this way, we enable responsible consumption to make an active contribution to climate protection. Through complete local production, value is added there and new social and economic structures are established, which are urgently needed to preserve the Amazon forests. Local processing ensures the survival of the inhabitants in the forest and creates additional jobs in the urban area.

Der Amazonas kann sowohl ökonomisch als auch ökologisch genutzt werden. Er muss nicht für Holz, Monokulturen und Minen ausgebeutet werden.

Hi, mein Name ist Julian :). Ich fahre mit dem Fahrrad durch Südamerika, um ein wertvolles, nachhaltiges Projekt zu unterstützen. Meine Route führt mich durch Südamerika und endet bei dem Projekt selbst, inmitten des brasilianischen Amazonas. Ich unterstütze dieses Projekt, indem ich Spenden sammle und einen Einblick in die mysteriöse Welt Amazoniens und Südamerikas gebe. Dr. Rainer Putz vom Regenwaldinstitut wird mir die nötigen Informationen liefern, die ich für ein solches Unterfangen benötige.

Ich lade euch ein, gemeinsam für sechs Monate in die Natur und Kultur Südamerikas einzutauchen. Das Regenwaldinstitut schützt 24km² Regenwald im brasilianischen Amazonas. Es wurde ein Weg entwickelt, den Amazonas ökonomisch und ökologisch zu nutzen. Dieses Projekt schöpft aus dem Dschungel neue Werte, indem die Einwohner mit natürlichen Produkten, gesammelt aus dem intakten Wald, Geld verdienen.

Diese Symbiose entkräftet die Behauptung, der Amazonas sei ökonomisch wertlos. So können wir nicht nur mit dem Schutz der Natur argumentieren, sondern auch den Zerstörern des Amazonas ein Gegenargument bieten.

ZIELE

10.000€. - Erstes Ziel - ein Boot und eine Solaranlage

70.000€. - Zweites Ziel - ein Satellitenkommunikationssystem / Mittel, um das Haus auf dem Grundstück des Projekts zu bauen. Dort wird eine einheimische Familie leben und das 24km² große Grundstück vor der Abholzung schützen. Zusätzlich soll ein Gästezimmer integriert werden und später sogar eine Forschungsstation aufgebaut werden (siehe drittes Ziel).

Drittes Ziel - Sobald wir die ersten Ziele erreichen, möchte das Regenwaldinstitut die Forschungseinrichtung bauen und sogar noch weiteren Regenwald kaufen.
