No one can deny that the city of Atlanta loves its trees. It is a little known fact, however, that these beloved giants are under imminent threat from invasives and uninformed practices. Our mutual devotion to the forests of Atlanta is what drew Kate Carson, Tanya Povolny, and Gina Titelman to the work of ecological restoration.
Kate has an extensive ecology and restoration background dating back over 15 years. Tanya is a lifelong nature lover and has training in landscape architecture. Gina is a forest therapy guide in training and a certified aromatherapist. Together, we began to dream up the idea of a worker's co-operative with a vision aligned with our own. We envisioned a co-op run by women who care deeply for their environment and who want to work hard to protect it. Against all odds, we are proud to announce that we are trying to make that dream tangible and are inviting you to help us take our first steps.ReForest ATL
endeavors to rescue and reinvigorate the forests of the Atlanta area using the most current ecological practices, with special attention to native flora. We intend not only to save the current trees of Atlanta, but to implement more mindful management and planting practices for the future forest by incorporating permaculture and other holistic frameworks. Our hope is to change the philosophy surrounding conservation and restoration by exemplifying the benefit of a low-impact, completely manual approach—without the use of herbicides.
Your money will help us get started on bringing healthy forests back to Atlanta by allowing us to purchase equipment and tools, pay for business licensing and insurance, and create a website.
Right now we are only a tiny seedling, but with your support, we can grow into a great heritage tree!
Thank you all so much!
Kate, Tanya, and Gina
