Help This Family Beat the Heat

I’m not one to ask for help at all, but my family and I have hit a spot where we need help. Our A/C unit is not working like it should. It stays around 80 degrees inside all the time during the day. I don’t have anyone to turn to anymore due to all my family that did help having passed on. My wife can’t work due to her being disabled. She has had 3 major back surgeries in the 23 years we’ve been married and a head-on collision in 2011 that shattered her right leg. So, I’m the only one that can work in our household. She does get $700 a month in disability, but that and all my pay goes to bills. We have 2 daughters together, and I have 2 daughters from my previous marriage. They are 26, 25, 22, and 19, and we have a 6-year-old grandson.

I have priced out a new unit, and it is around $6500. Thank the good Lord I can install it myself with the help of my brother. If not, it would be over $10k. Like I said, I’m not one for asking for help. I like to work for what we get, but in today’s time, that’s getting really hard to do unless you work all the time. I do all I can for my family, but sometimes we all need a little help. I have helped people many times as I have been a volunteer firefighter for over 20 years.
