Hi there. My name is Steven Alverson. After talking with my siblings Brittany & Bryan Ray, we decided to create this fundraiser to help with our mom's (Robin Alverson) emergency medical bills and loss of income. For the past few months, she has been having some heart and chest pain. On 4/27/22, she went for an EKG and they sent her home with a referral to see a specialist. A few hours later around midnight, she asked my brother to take her to the ER. After about 12 hours in the ER, the doctors confirmed severe blockage. On 4/28/22, they attempted to install a couple of stents but they were not able to be placed due to the internal damage. On 4/29/22, she was transported by ambulance to Advent Daytona where she waited 3 days for bypass surgery. Once the Dr began the procedure, he entered through her leg and worked up to the heart. When he reached the affected area, it was decided it would be a double bypass with a clip for atrial fibrillation.
We are asking for any help and support you can spare. She will be unable to return and finish the rest of the school year. Additionally, she will not be able to participate in the summer feeding program which is a big part of her yearly income. Doctors have the hope she will be able to return to work in August of 2022 but they are not 100% certain at the moment.
Recovery will be a hard long road and the medical bills will be an added stress. She moved to Flagler County in 1986 and has been an active member in the community and school system for over 25 years and the Food Service Manager of Rymfire Elementary since it opened. We will be doing everything we can to cover the bills but several weeks in the hospital with 2 surgeries will add up very quickly.
We could use any support possible from the community that she has served and kept fed for so many years.
