Cancer Sucks! Help John Jacobs.

John and my husband Tim knew each other WAY before I came around. I met my husband in 2005 and I met John in 2006 sometime. John is family to Tim and John has become family to me. Our son even calls him Uncle John. We have all lived together, supported each other, and grown even closer together through the years. We are family!

Back in early December 2015, John could not get a cough to go away. He took medicine, but he is hard headed and does not like to go to the doctor so he stayed with this cough for about 3 weeks. A few days before Christmas the cough was gone so he thought he was good, but on Christmas he woke up with some pain on his right side under his ribs. He didn’t think anything of it and being the stubborn/hard headed guy he is, he was not going to go to the doctor. On the 27th of December the pain was so bad a friend forced him to go see the doctor. The doctor thought he bruised his ribs from coughing so much the week before so he gave him medicine and all was good for about a week. Then the pain came back, but twice as bad. He then went straight to the doctor but they weren’t sure what it was so they had him go for an ultrasound. With the ultrasound they found a large mass that covered 50% of his liver. He was sent to a liver specialist to see what he could figure out. They did every test they could do, and on January 22nd he was told that he has stage 4 cancer in 3 parts of his body. There is a big spot on his liver, a small spot on his colon, and a small amount on his lymph nodes that are by his colon. He was shocked when the doctor told him this because even though he doesn't eat healthy, he is in shape and has played softball a couple of nights a week for years. Cancer does not run in his mom’s side of the family. But he doesn’t know anything about his dad because he took off before John was born and never came around. On February 9th the doctor did a blood test to see if the colon cancer could've come from his dad’s side of the family, but the doctor is 95% sure that his dad’s side does not have a history of colon cancer. The doctor said that he is just one of those cases where the cancer started in his colon and spread to his liver without any family history of it. On February 11th he will go meet with the surgeon to see when they will do surgery to remove the cancer that can be removed, and then 6 weeks after the surgery he will start chemo. John will have to be out of work while healing and during the times treatment makes him too sick to work. If you feel it placed on your heart to donate, please do. But if you are financially unable to, please just be sure to keep him in your prayers. John has an incredible support system and will get through this with the help of his family, friends, and most of all God.
