Life came at us too quickly

Donation protected
Thank you to everyone who has been willing to help us with donations up to this point. We cannot express our gratitude for your caring. Y'all are amazing and we appreciate you so much!

Unfortunately, things have gone from bad to worse. During the loading of the moving truck, Karl was horribly injured. He fell off the back of the truck and broke 6 ribs, bruised his heart and liver and has a pneumathorax that partially collapsed his lung. He has recovered from the immediate injuries well enough but he now has some issues with his heart that are going to need some longer term care.

The bandage is where the chest tube was inserted for the partially collapsed lung he suffered.

We managed to get him patched up well enough to head out towards Texas, we got to Oregon before he needed to stop and rest. The day after we started that journey,  he was informed that his job was no longer available to him. This has left us homeless in an area that has rather limited resources in terms of assistance for homeless families. We have a little money left and I have put that towards staying in a hotel for the next week. I should have enough money for one more week after that. Once that money is gone, we will not have enough to stay anywhere except in our car.

Thankfully, we qualify for some assistance in the way of insurance and food stamps, but that is about all I have heard we can get. All of the homeless shelters in the greater Portland and Salem areas are full and have waitlists that are months or years long. This has left us in a bit of a pickle, as it were. It looks like we may have a settlement coming from the truck rental company, but until then, we are stuck. The truck was rented to us in a damaged condition which led to Karl's injuries.

Here is what we need right now:
Weekly rental for our room is $427 weekly or $1683 monthly. I am going to look for cheaper accomodations but I am doubtful I will find them.
We have a cell phone bill of $188.82 due on 28th of every month. The phones are necessary so that we can talk to people about housing as well the truck rental company and keep us online to talk to everyone else out there.
We get $418 per week from unemployment but that amount is about to decrease as Karl is unable to work.
We have a total need of $1871.82 with an income of $1672. As you can see, we do not have the funds to both house ourselves, keep our necessary phones paid turned on.

To survive for 6 months, we would need $11,230.92, I am doubtful it will take us 6 months to get recompense and get ourselves settled so I will not be asking for this total. Instead, I will ask for 2 months of help, totalling $3743.64, minus the $945 already donated which has been added to the total goal amount.

I know this is a lot of money to ask for. I will be looking for a job, but not having an actual address will make this rather difficult and we have out of state identification which is going to be another deterrant. It costs $60 for a new one here for me, $144 for Karl as he as a motorcycle license as well. That may have to wait as I have no clue if we can stay here in Oregon while dealing with all of this.

If you can find it in your heart to help us, we would be eternally grateful. If you have any questions about our requests, please let us know and we will happily answer them. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I know its long and involved. Blessings to all and may you have much better luck than we have had recently!
