Help get 25 athletes of color on the start line!

Ride for Racial Justice in partnership with SBT GRVL  has created a program to offer 25 secured spots for Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) cyclists at the starting line of the 2021 SBT GRVL race taking place in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Along with all race entry fees covered, the program will also offer financial assistance to each of the 25 athletes to help with costs related to transportation, lodging, gear & meals to compete in the race.

Fund 1 athlete's full journey to the start line- $1,000

Fund 1 RFRJ Kit (Cycling Clothing):  $100
Fund 1 athlete's Cycling Equipment:  $75 - $500
Fund 1 athlete's Travel/Airfare:  $300 - $600
Fund Lodging for 1 athlete (3 nights):  $200 - $300
Fund 1 athlete's Meals (3 days): $100
Fund Transportation for 1 athlete:  $25

Our $25,000 goal would support all 25 athletes from across the country with associated costs from training to race day!

Ride for Racial Justice (RFRJ), a Denver-based organization founded in June 2020, and SBT GRVL , a world-class gravel bike race in Steamboat Springs launched in 2019, both share a mission of working towards greater inclusivity, equity and racial diversity in cycling. The organizational partnership and athlete program seeks to foster greater athlete participation and access for the BIPOC community, while setting a precedent for other races around the country.

Companies, businesses, and organizations are also encouraged to support. We're grateful to-
Handlebar Mustache Apparel for hooking us up with socks for all the athletes!
Wahoo Fitness for providing each athlete with a Wahoo Computer, Training Plan + 1 Year Subscription to the Sufferfest App!

As a new organization, RFRJ is taking this opportunity to leverage the possibility of community fundraising so that all of our allies and accomplices can actively be a part of our mission and help fund this unique program.

These efforts will not only give 25 BIPOC Athletes the opportunity to race at SBT GRVL in 2021, but will also allow us to carry our mission in new communities. Among other criteria, the BIPOC athletes will be selected based on their intentions to leverage the Ride for Racial Justice mission in their own lives and communities- using their voice to create more equity, diversity and inclusion in cycling and helping to grow this program in their locale.

Black, Indigenous, People of Color cyclists are invited to apply here: SBT GRVL x RFRJ BIPOC Athlete Program  until December 14th.

Acknowledgements & Gratitude
This program would not be possible without the support of Mark Satkiewicz, our friend and Co-Founder of SBT GRVL, whose deep personal commitment to inclusivity led to the start of this partnership. Mark, you are missed dearly. Our sincere gratitude to STB GRVL Co-Founder, Amy Charity, for carrying on his legacy with us through this program.
