Hi, our names are Jenny and Robert. We have a 1-year-old platinum Frenchie that has been through a lot. We got him when he was 10 weeks old. A couple of months later, he started having problems with food; he would always throw up and couldn't keep his food down. We went to the vet, and they told us he has a hiatal hernia, which means his stomach moves up through his diaphragm and into the chest. They told us it could possibly fix itself when he grows, as it will stretch out enough to where it won't be open too much. We also had to put him in a Bailey chair every time he would eat. He also has an elongated soft palate. So, we did all that, and he started to get better, and we started feeding him normally. He was still not 100% better and still had some problems, but not like it was. But around October 2024, he started having problems again. Of course, we took him back to the vet and found out he had aspirated and needed to be on antibiotics and go back into his Bailey box. So, we did all that. He kept having problems and was constantly going to the vet and getting aspirated pneumonia, so we decided to start with the first surgery, which was to fix his elongated soft palate. At least we could get him to breathe better since the other surgery for his hiatal hernia is a very harsh surgery on them and I'm hopes with doing the first surgery that would be enough to help him not have the hiatal hernia surgery. So finally, on January 21, 2025, he got his surgery, and he did good. A couple of days later, he wasn't able to keep any food down and was always throwing up. So, back to the vet we went, and we were told he has aspirated pneumonia. We were sent home with IV fluids since he couldn't eat and antibiotics that went into the IV. We did that for 4 days. We went back to the vet for a follow-up and to do x-rays with barium to see what he was eating and drinking was going where it needed to go. So, they did all that, and the barium went into his stomach, which is what it needed to do, but not all of it went there. They also saw his pneumonia was still there and not better. We were sent home with antibiotics and to feed him normal. He will most likely need this other surgery, which is very expensive and a lot more going to the vet. We wouldn't ask for help, but I have had several people reach out to me to find out how they could help with vet bills and surgery expenses, so we decided to do a GoFundMe. We have been to the vet several times since we learned what was wrong, and we all know the vet is not cheap at all.
Domino is only a year old, and we would do anything for him. He's an amazing dog and deserves the best life. He is not in any pain or discomfort; we just have to get past this pneumonia and plan for this next surgery. We appreciate anything that anyone can give, and Domino would love it too. Even to just share this would be amazing. Domino has long road ahead of him and a lot more vet appointments Thank you all in advance ❤️
