Help My Girlfriend Get the Care She Deserves

My girlfriend is only 20 years old, but she’s living in a body that feels like it’s breaking down piece by piece.

She has Myotonia Congenita, a rare condition that makes her muscles stiffen and cramp painfully, sometimes so bad she can’t even move. On top of that, she has a severe case of POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). Her heart races and her blood pressure crashes when she stands up—leaving her dizzy, fainting, and drained of energy.

She’s been in and out of the cardiologist’s office for months. She’s worn a heart monitor, gone through stress tests, and had constant ER trips when her body gives out. Each visit adds to a mountain of bills we can’t keep up with—especially because her insurance (Ambetter) refuses to cover so much of what she needs.

As if that wasn’t enough, X-rays showed her lower spine is fusing together and pinching nerves, leaving her in unbearable pain. She’s starting to develop scoliosis and other back problems, and every single day feels like her body is fighting against her.

She hasn’t been able to work in over a year. She just turned 20 and was taken off her family’s insurance, so now everything is falling on me. I’m 19, working every shift I can, DoorDashing in my spare time, and then coming home to take care of her. But no matter how hard I try, it’s never enough. Her family isn’t helping, and we’re drowning.

Right now, the only way forward is getting her an MRI—without it, she can’t even apply for disability. But the cost is more than we can possibly afford. We’re stuck in this cruel loop: she can’t work because she’s sick, she can’t get disability without the MRI, and she can’t get the MRI without money.

I hate watching her cry because she feels like a burden when she isn’t. She’s my world. All I want is to give her the chance to live without this constant pain and fear.

If you can donate, even the smallest amount would mean the world to us. If you can’t, please share her story. She deserves a future where she isn’t suffering every single day.
