Support Our Classmate’s Fight Against Cancer

“Together, We Can Make a Difference”

Dear Friends, Family, and Community Members,

Today, I reach out to you with a heavy yet hopeful heart on behalf of our beloved classmate, Julian Dexter Johnson. Our friend has recently been diagnosed with cancer—a word that carries with it uncertainty, fear, and countless challenges, but also hope and the boundless strength of community.

His journey with cancer began recently with a series of unexplained symptoms—fatigue, persistent pain, and appointments that led from one test to another. When the diagnosis came, it was a shock for him; however, despite this life-altering news, our friend is facing each day with a positive spirit, and an unwavering determination to fight.

As classmates, friends, and supporters, let us come together to make his financial fight less taxing. Cancer is not just a medical battle—it is a financial one as well. Treatments are expensive. Insurance often covers only a portion of the required care, leaving families burdened with overwhelming medical bills, prescription costs, and travel expenses for specialized treatment.

Our classmate has been on disability since 2010 after having several surgeries on his knees. Dexter had recently started utilizing his certified massage therapy license again to allow more flexibility in his income; however, currently he is no longer able to do that. Hebrew 13:16 (ESV) says “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”

Dexter is someone who we have shared laughter, ideas, and dreams with us in classrooms, in hallways, after school, and beyond. Now, in this difficult chapter, it is our turn to lift him up. This is where we, as a unified body, can step in. Our support, no matter how big or small, will directly help cover the costs of medical care, transportation, medications, and essential living expenses, ensuring he can focus on what truly matters: healing and recovery.
