Hello Friends and Family,
Most of you know Mike has been in the hospital for the last few weeks. On Dec 6th he was complaining of abdominal pain that was so extreme that he couldn't walk. When taken to the ER and after doing a scan and a few tests, they determined Mike had a ruptured colon and that an emergency surgery was needed.
After repairing the colon and thinking Mike would only take a few days to recover turned into days of not seeing any progress and experiencing, fevers, intense pain, liquid buildup, and infection, and scans finally revealed there was a leak in his colon. Mike was then scheduled a second emergency surgery.
It was the second surgery that landed Mike in the ICU. He was in very critical condition and the Surgeon said it was a very delicate procedure because all his organs had shut down and the sepsis set in. He now had a colostomy bag, ventilator, iv bags and tubes, etc.
We knew we needed everyone's hearts to join us in prayers because we believe God is the ultimate doctor and giver of life!
As, the days went on Mike organs started coming back and vitals were improving. God is Good!!!
We are happy to say his organs are showing good healthy numbers, lung strength is weak and improving, Infection is coming down and he is learning to get back on his feet. He out of ICU and still in the hospital until the infection clears out and he's stable enough to go home and predict that time will be around New Years.
Unfortunately, with the time Mike has spent in the hospital has put our family in a hard financial situation. Mike has lost a lot of work hours and will continue to be at a loss given the amount of time needed to recover. This has not been an easy thing for Mike and our family to go through and ask if you can consider giving from your heart if your are lead to do so.In the meantime, we are making the necessary adjustments to make the load easier. We would like Mike to just to focus on getting better and not cause more stress about providing for our family.
Most importantly he is alive and we have a lot to be thankful for!!!
We want to thank everyone who has been praying for Mike and this whole situation. Also for those who have come over to the house and have helped me and Mike in other ways. We are truly thankful for all the prayers , support, and love !!
God Bless,
The Verlich Family
