His dreams shattered by one deadly car accident

Hi, my name is Glorious and I started this appeal due to my desire to help my second cousin Reymark Recalde's repatriation and to raise much needed financial assistance for his family back home.

Reymark was one of 8 siblings whose father, my Uncle Tano, is a farmer in Catanauan, Quezon, while his mother, Tita Basing, is a housewife. Second to the youngest, Reymark took it upon himself to provide for his parents by working as a seaman in the last 7 years. He confided to his siblings and friends that working as a seaman for 7 years has taken physical and mental toll on him.

He happily said to one of my aunts that of all the countries where the shipping line he works for has docked, he found Australia to be the best. So last October 2023, equipped with determination and hope, he decided to explore Australia and the possibility of calling this beautiful country home.

He arrived in Australia on 29 November 2023 and, as you can see from his photo, he was extremely excited and hopeful of his future and what it will mean to his parents. His dream is to give them comfortable lives in their prime years and pay them back for all the sacrifices they have made.

For reasons difficult for anyone to understand, not even 3 weeks in Australia, the van he was travelling in with his new acquaintances, got involved in an accident in the intersection of Sixteenth Street and Deakin Street in Mildura, Victoria. Sadly, he lost his young life to this accident on 18 December 2023. Here is one of the news media clips about the accident: Fatal Collision at Sixteenth Street & Deakin Ave

It took the police 4 days to contact the family as their information was not readily available.

The process to repatriate his remain has been challenging to navigate. The long-distance communication between 2 countries who speak different languages while investigations are on-going has made it even more difficult. More than a month since his death, his remains is still not yet back home. I have been in constant communication with the funeral services requesting to do what they can to make sure his body is presentable for viewing.

We are hoping that in the next 2 weeks, he will finally be with his family so they can see him for the last time and give him a proper burial.

My heart was shattered into pieces when I came to know that, due to the circumstances around his death, there will be no assurance of any other financial support, aside from repatriation, from any other sources.

This is why I appeal to your kind hearts. In Reymark's death and his memory, I know that part of his wish is for his parents to be supported. Now that he is gone, he won't be able to fulfil his dreams for them. Your help will mean a lot to Reymark and his parents.

Thank you and God bless,

Glorious
