Reya Peurasaari Stallman, a beautiful person inside and out, has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and additional genetic testing found that she is BRCA1 positive. This has made the treatment plan much more intense. University of Michigan's oncology team recommended the immediate start of chemotherapy which began on December 7. Following several months of treatment she will undergo a bilateral mastectomy followed by more chemotherapy.

Reya is well known in the Harbor Springs Community for her welcoming smile and outstanding presence at her place of work, Pierson’s Grille and Spirits. She also has been a long time employee at The Highlands in the ski, golf and hospitality industry and refers to the resort as being like a second family and home. As a hard-working, single mother of two children, the medical diagnosis has been devastating in many ways. But it was especially hard for Reya to hear her oncologist’s order to avoid work for the next several months as she receives treatment.
