Rex's Bone Marrow Transplant Expenses
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Shanteisha Evans, and I am the daughter of Rexford Garner. I started this donation platform on the behalf of my father, who was recently diagnosed with a life-changing illness. As of May 2022, he has been diagnosed with stage 3 multiple myeloma. Multiple Myeloma is a type of cancer that is not curable but only treatable. It attacks the white blood cells that fight infections in the body and crowds all healthy blood cells. This cancer also generates tumors inside the body that produce rapidly without treatment and weaken bones. To date, he has had two major brain surgeries to remove tumors, place synthetic skull pieces and repair a broken arm due to his cancer. He also began immediate chemo treatments by IV and pill.
We currently have a cancer team here in Columbia and a team at MUSC in Charleston, South Carolina, that has worked with us to physically prepare him for a bone marrow transplant and additional rounds of chemotherapy. Without this transplant, he will have a year or less to live. My father and mother are preparing to travel to Charleston in December and will have to stay for a minimum of one month, and I will also have to travel back and forth; this is where we need your help! Room and board, food, gas, medication, medical bills and other necessities are needed to send them on their way to Charleston, and we ask that you donate what you can to assist with the costs! No donation is too small! Our family appreciates everyone for taking the time to read and contribute to this cause! We pray that God will bless you for your willingness to be a blessing to us!
