Hi, my name is Maylei and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart. My sweet Rex, a beloved Great Dane, recently went through a terrifying, life-threatening medical emergency known as GDV (Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus), or “bloat.”

It all happened so fast. One moment, Rex was home with us, and the next, we were rushing to the emergency vet as his stomach had twisted, cutting off blood supply to vital organs. GDV is fatal if not treated immediately, and the only option was emergency surgery. The procedure was risky, but thanks to the skilled veterinary team, he made it through the operation.

Unfortunately, the road to recovery has been harder than we hoped. Rex is still at the hospital under close observation, and the doctors are recommending he stay for additional days to ensure he’s stable before coming home.

The costs for the surgery, hospitalization, medications, and extended care are overwhelming, already totaling $8,700 and still climbing. Every extra day at the hospital adds to the bill, but right now, I’m focused on giving Rex the best chance at a full recovery.

If you know Rex, you know how much joy, love, and laughter he brings into the lives of everyone he meets. He’s my best friend, my family, and my heart. Watching him fight to get better breaks me, but I know he’s a fighter.
