Hi - I am embarrassed to ask for help but not sure what else to do right now…
My 4 year old dog Rex went 100% paralyzed in his hind legs yesterday going into last night due to genetic predisposition to disk degenerative disease. (health history was unknown due to being a rescue). He was other wise healthy and happy up until yesterday where he was lethargic and all of a sudden started dragging his hind legs and could not sleep or lay down due to pain. I have brought him to the ER and i’m still here. The vets say he can still feel pain which is a good sign and why the surgery is necessary and ASAP. There is a spot open tomorrow. If not, this will be his new normal, unable to walk, unable to use the restroom on his own and will need a wheel chair. With this sudden emergency Idk what to do but anyone who knows Rex he has so much life to live. The total cost is +12K with hospitalization, surgery, and for recovery. Anything will help, even a share…
Thank you!
UPDATE: Rex is currently under anesthesia for his MRI prior to surgery. waiting on updates before the official surgery begins. Thank you everyone for your help and support during this time.
UPDATE: Surgery went well yesterday. I got a call from the vet this morning and she was shocked, She said he can stand. She said it is extremely rare for that to happen that quickly. She is super impressed with how the surgery went. He is still in the ICU for an addition 1-2 days for monitoring but she is extremely happy about the results from the surgery!

Thanks to you all REX is making a great recovery and can walk without pain. Although he drifts a bit he is doing great. He wants to play again and is back to his happy hyper self. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
