Rewarding your Generosity
In a time where so many are standing behind so many causes, I ask you if your heart is open to one more? I
acknowledge that I am asking you for your charity during a time of pandemic. Please know I would never do this if it was not important and that I intend to reward your generosity in terms of a virtual fundraiser with some amazing
prizes (see below). The reason I am doing this is on behalf of my friends who are enduring an unimaginable tragedy. A tragedy that is easier to be in denial of but I chose to face, so that I can potentially make an impact for them. I
hope you too will come to that decision by the close of this communication.
Specifically, my friends recently lost their gorgeous son River at just 2.5 years old. They had recently left NY due to the Covid landscape, for a fresh start in ME. Niki is a member of local 79 in NY for the last several years and his wife Gina works for young living selling essential oils that resonate with her holistic lifestyle. Their hope in going to
Maine was to enjoy nature, each other and also be able to help care for an elderly grandparent. After only a short
while, their beautiful new life turned into the worst tragedy imaginable, unexpectedly losing their only child. Their
son that was literally their entire world. My heart bleeds for them, every day. I actually can’t imagine the loss or the heartbreak. It’s too much for me to think about, much less imagine enduring. This fundraiser is for fellow union
members who want to stand in support of their fellow brother and for individuals who may not know the family
personally but feel compelled to offer support.
The intention of the fundraiser is to give these young parents the financial relief to properly grieve. The sad truth is there are expenses that come along with the very worst day of their lives. There is also the stress of not just
finding new work in a new place during Covid but doing so at a time where just getting up and putting one foot in
front of the other is a milestone of strength worth acknowledgement.
Asking for help is awkward, do we know them enough to donate? To share? Will they be offended if I tell their truth in asking for financial relief? Will people think that I’m asking too much of them during a pandemic? I too have these thoughts that may be running through your mind, but I can’t not ask. I can’t not at least try for them and if it feels
awkward for me or you, imagine how they feel.
As such in asking you to take part in a virtual fundraiser that will encompass two prizes. I know many are
fantasizing about travel since we have been stuck in our homes for months during pandemic, as such I am donating
that opportunity in exchange for your donations.
s`
For every $50 donation given I will enter your name into a drawing for 2 Economy Class tickets anywhere in the
continental US, Caribbean, or Hawaii. (a prize valued at $1500.)
For every $100 donation I will enter your name into a drawing for 2 FIRST CLASS tickets anywhere in the
continental US, Caribbean or Hawaii (a prize valued at $3200.)
Lastly - acknowledging we are in a pandemic and many are not in a position to donate these significant sums, please remember every dollar helps add up to make a meaningful impact and ALL donations are sincerely appreciated.
Here are the specifics for entering and How to Win:
· Use your email address or your name in the visible donation. I will use this email to notify the winners. If
remaining anonymous is critical to you, send me a message on here with your name and donation amount and I will enter you that way.
· The live draw will be held on Friday July 17th at noon ET. An email recording will go out to all winners who missed the live call along with their prize instructions. You can join the live fundraising draw here at this link.
