Our family is deeply saddened by the passing of our father, George Marinelli, who dedicated 30 years of his life to law enforcement and ultimately retired as Chief of Police. While he achieved so much throughout his distinguished career, his absolute favorite time on the force was his years spent as a K9 officer. His police dog, Lancer, was incredibly dear to him and to our entire family.
Chief Marinelli always spoke about the importance of the K9 program and how it brought the community together. The bond between officer and dog was something he cherished, and he often shared stories of Lancer’s bravery and loyalty. We believe that revitalizing the Rocky Hill Police Department’s K9 program is the best way to honor his memory and continue his legacy of service.
In lieu of flowers, we are launching this GoFundMe page to help the Rocky Hill Police Department launch its revitalized K9 program. Donations will go directly toward supporting the program, including training, equipment, and helping acquire a new police dog. Nothing would mean more to our father than knowing he helped get this vital program off the ground again.
Thank you so much for your support, your generosity, and for helping us keep Chief Marinelli’s passion alive.
