Help Bring Fair-Trade Back to Oak Park!
On March 31st, after 17 years, we closed our doors and said goodbye to Ten Thousand Villages in Oak Park. But the need for Fair-Trade-supporting global artisans, ethical shopping, and strengthening our community hasn't gone away. That's why we're launching a new Fair-Trade business, and we need your help.
Our Plan to Rebuild Fair-Trade in Oak Park:
1. Start Small, Think Big - We'll begin by selling Fair-Trade products at local events throughout the Midwest.
2. Rug Event - In September, we will host a local Fair-Trade Rug event.
3. Holiday Pop-Up Shop - This October through Christmas, we aim to open a seasonal pop-up store in Oak Park.
4. Permanent Fair-Trade Store - If the pop-up is successful, we'll secure an affordable, year-round retail space in 2026.
Why This Matters:
Fair-Trade isn't just about dignity, sustainability, and opportunity. Every purchase supports global artisans with fair wages, safe working conditions, and sustainable livelihoods. But we also believe in giving back locally. A portion of our sales will support local nonprofits.
How You Can Help:
Your donation will help cover the start-up costs, product inventory, event fees, and space rental for our holiday pop-up.
Whether it's $10 or $500, every contribution moves us closer to making Fair-Trade a lasting part of Oak Park again.
