Revive Catalina Club for Its 60th Anniversary
Donation protected
My name is Kim and I have been the advisor to the Catalina Club at Firestone since the 1995-1996 school year. Back in those years we had around 50 to 60 members in the club and had a very fun and successful two night show. The club always made enough revenue to pay for the event the following year. There were some lean years around 2012-2014 but the club was built back up to it's glory and sell out shows once again.
In the 2019-2020 school year the pandemic hit and we lost two years of shows. Money was supplemented through Covid funds that kept us going for another couple years but the toll it took on the club was in the form of membership. We have struggled to have 14-20 girls each year which isn't enough to bring in the crowd needed to make enough to pay for the shows. We dropped down to a one night show to cut costs but every year we sink deeper in the hole. Next year is the 60th anniversary of Catalina. I fear that this year may be the last show as we do not have enough to operate and may need to borrow against this year's show revenue.
In a final act of hope to save the club I thought I would turn to you, the Alumni. In hopes we can bring Catalina Club back to life. It is a wonderful club and in some cases is the only activity the girls in it participate in at school. I have volunteered my weekends for almost 30 years to supervise this activity and truly believe it is such a unique part of all that is Firestone.
If anyone would be willing to make a contribution it would be greatly appreciated.
Our show is April 5th this year. I have 14 girls in the club. Please consider donating to this Go Fund Me or sending a check or money written to Catalina Club/Firestone CLC
