Revive: An opioid overdose detection device

Some of you know me and for those that don’t my name is Kyle Berman. I am a recovering Addict with a little over 4 years sober. I’ve lost so many dear friends to drug overdoses that I’ve decided to do something about it! I found my good friend and coworker dead a few months ago and just broke down feeling defeated. As we stand on the firing lines of this opioid epidemic I feel as though my best effort’s in helping others has made little impression. I’ve lost over a dozen friends just this year and we still have over a month left. My heart is breaking more by the day. The result of this consistent and painful grief has inspired me to redesign some of our existing technologies to detect an impending overdose in a non invasive device that I will call Revive. We have the technology, now let’s use it to save lives!

Revive Band: an overdose detention device. This device will read specific vital signs and when a persons vitals go below certain threshold that would be indicative of an overdose it will alert their emergency contacts(family and friends who’ve opted in). The overdosed victim’s location will be revealed(only upon overdose) at which point the family and friends can come and administer Narcan(naloxone) or call 911 and potentially save the loved one. A parent will be able to sleep well knowing their kid is still alive. The unfortunate reality is fentanyl is wiping out an entire generation and I believe this device has the potential to help turn the tide in this epidemic. I’ve done a lot of research and I’ve hired a team of professionals to help in the development of a strategic proposal. I’ve got market analysis, patentability, projected manufacturing costs and an immense amount of passion. I’ve spoken to various Doctors in the field as well as application developers, nurse practitioners, and first responders. All of whom seem to have the same beliefs as I do and that this can and will work under the specific parameters that I will have it designed to do. I will not stop until I’ve done everything in my power to see this through but I can’t do it alone!

As we enter the holiday season and think of all that we have and are thankful for I cannot help but think of the families that won’t get to spend this time with their loved ones ever again. I’m tired of my friends and people dying all around me and I need your help!

I believe in transparency and for that reason I will say this is not going to be a non profit company. Based on my research and experience I feel as though this idea will not gain the traction it needs to see it through to production and market without the aid and equity in the company from large producers and manufacturers, thus it will not be as effective in the amount of lives I’m intending for this device to save.

The next phase is the development of the Application and that will cost an estimated $100,000.
