We are a group of musicians, specialized in early music, aiming to revive Handel's opera "Rinaldo" as chamber music based on period manuscripts, adding more continuo instruments: cello and archlute. We will present a fresh and unique rendition of this magnificent work, and we need your support to make it happen. Will you join us on this musical journey?
About the project
Recording a CD of Händel's music that has never been recorded before is exciting because Händel is one of the most significant composers of the Baroque era, and his music has had a lasting impact on Western culture.
By recording an unpublished work, we aim to provide a unique insight into the style and technique of a composer who holds a exceptional place in history. Each piece Händel composed is an example of his musical mastery, and reviewing his work can be a window into his creative process. In our recording, you can listen to the famous opera "Rinaldo" in a truly personal version. Our arrangements are based on a manuscript from the period that includes Händel's arias from other operas. We have studied and analyzed these arias to create our arrangements for this set of instruments.
By adding a new piece to Händel's existing catalog, musicians, students, and Baroque music enthusiasts can gain a more comprehensive and profound understanding of the musical period in which Händel worked. This can lead to new ideas and perspectives on how Baroque music developed in Europe and a better understanding of the socio-economic environment of the time. These arrangements served, among other things, to introduce the music of the period to society, especially to those who couldn't afford opera tickets. We are confident that the release of this CD will inspire new projects for other musicians and artists.
And who are we?
"Intelligence, quality, solvency, refinement, and honesty, these are outstanding features of these three young performers who are creating BREZZA, something great." Mario Guada in Codalario.
Founded during its members' time at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, BREZZA is one of the most versatile ensembles specialising in the historical informed performance of 17th and 18th century music on the current scene, inviting collaborators who enrich the experience of each of its programmes, formed by Pablo Gigosos, traverso; Marina Cabello del Castillo, viola da gamba; and Teun Braken, harpsichord; in this case with Giulio Padoin, cello; Pablo FitzGerald, archlute and baroque guitar; and Hiram Santos, percussion.
Their status as winners of multiple national and international competitions has allowed them to advance and develop their professional careers. Recently, BREZZA was awarded the "Young Art" prize from Castilla y León. In 2022, BREZZA won first prize at the International Early Music Competition in Gijón and became artists in residence, thus becoming the "Rheinsberg Hoffkapelle" for 2022/2023 in Germany after winning the first prize. In the same year, they also became artists at AIEenRUTA. A year earlier, they received the first prize "GeneraciónSMADE 2021" at the 52nd Week of Early Music in Estella-Lizarra, the second prize at the "Biagio Marini Competition" in Germany, the Best Video award at the International Early Music Competition in Gijón, the Festival ECOS award, the Espurnes Barroques award, and became part of the network of concert series by Juventudes Musicales de España. In 2019, they won their first prize "Barrocos Bizarros" at the Baroque Music Festival in Ribera Alta.
All of this has helped them firmly establish themselves in the world of Early Music, participating in numerous festivals across various countries in Europe, including the International Early Music Festival in Utrecht (Netherlands), International Sacred Music Festival in Madrid (Spain), Early Music Festival in Santander (Spain), Musikfestspiele Potsdam Sanssouci (Germany), Freunde Alte Musik Basel (Switzerland), Juan March Foundation in Madrid (Spain), AMUZ Festival in Antwerp (Belgium), among others.

How will the money be used?
Recording a CD is a complex process that requires a significant financial investment. We need to cover the costs of recording (sound engineer), expenses related to the record label (CD distribution), the editing of the arrangements for the sheet music, photography and promotional video expenses, payment to the editor who will write the notes and texts for the CD, musician fees, travel expenses, promotional costs, renting a venue, as well as expenses associated with CD launches in Switzerland and Spain, including design.
We aim to bring Baroque music to a wider audience and enhance the appreciation and understanding of this musical style. We are confident that with your help, we can make this CD recording possible and share our music with audiences all around the world.
Thank you very much in advance for your trust and for making this project a reality!
