Revitalizing Reighlynn
Donation protected
Friday July 6,2018 started off just like any other show day for Reighlynn, opening night of Charlie Brown was a success and went to go celebrate for dinner at islands when events took a turn for the worse.
Out of nowhere Reighlynn had an excruciating headache, went limp, and started twitching. Katie called 911 and rushed her off to Riverside Community Hospital where they found a brain bleed 2cm by 4cm on the right side and brain swelling, they transferred her to Loma Linda Childrens Hospital ICU for more tests. They ordered an MRI and determined it could be an AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation) but would need an angiogram to be conclusive.
the angiogram went great - however they couldn’t find anything wrong. There’s no signs of a mass or an AVM. So with the IR ( interventional radiology ) the report shows clear and there’s nothing wrong on that side.
The neurologist came in and spoke to us. She wants to just wait for the blood to start to dissolve and heal on its own and repeat the angiogram next week. She wants to see if there’s an AVM underneath the bleeding which is why we didn’t see it in the angiogram today.
So the plan for now is she will remain in the PICU (pediatric intensive care unit) for the next couple of days until she’s out of the danger of the swelling. We are also going to start on physical/occupational/speech therapy. She will go from the PICU, to the pediatric floor, and then a rehabilitation facility.
Reigh is responsive to questions and is asking for specific things. Her speech is still slurred and unclear but improving. She’s still signing her requests as well. Her left arm and leg have shown slight improvements - small toe wiggles, flexing of ankle, and her fingers have curled slightly.
As for the current bleed - for lack of a better way to explain it - the damage has already been done. She’ll need some intense therapy - physical, occupational, and speech to try to repair the damage that’s been done. The rupture that happened on Friday night hasn’t gotten any worse and the swelling has stayed the same which is all good.
our main concern is for Reigh to rest. She gets agitated very, VERY easily and gets worked up which is NOT good and puts her at risk for another rupture. Keeping her calm and the less stimuli the better.
We still have a long road ahead of us, and there’s still a lot of uncertainty. But glimpses of our Reigh-Reigh are coming out stronger and stronger every hour.
Katie and Nathan are at her bedside 24/7 ready to attend to any need that arises making it impossible to go back to work. Unfortunately no one could have predicted this coming and the medical bills are the last thing her amazing parents need to worry about right now.
No parent should have to go through this and I ask at this time to give back to someone who would truly be the first to come rushing to anyones need.
I can’t even describe the pain I feel. It does not feel real. She is the most sweet, loving, funny, perfect little special soul. I love her beyond words. I know she is a little fighter and we believe in her!
Please if you can, even if it’s only a few dollars please help this little girl get the treatment she so desperately needs and deserves. If you aren’t able to donate, more importantly we need prayers at this time for Reighlynn. We know there is great power in prayer.
