Help Keep the Music Alive at Marshall High!
Hello! My name is Alex Ramirez and I’m the Music Director at Marshall High School—one of Los Angeles’ most historic and culturally vibrant schools. I’m honored to share the story of our remarkable music program and invite you to be part of its future.
For generations, Marshall High has been home to one of the city’s most respected public school music programs. Our award-winning orchestra, jazz band, and inclusive rock band give students from all backgrounds the opportunity to learn, create, and perform together.
At the heart of our program is a simple belief: music belongs to everyone. Our inclusive approach welcomes all students—regardless of ability or experience—and helps them discover their voice through music. Each year, our students perform at the world-renowned Greek Theatre, joining forces with local elementary and middle schools to celebrate the power of music and community.
Like many arts programs, ours has faced major challenges in recent years. The pandemic took a toll on student participation and resources, and ongoing funding cuts continue to threaten our ability to serve every young musician who walks through our doors.
We’re now working to rebuild and reimagine our program—and we need your help.
Your donation will help us:
• Replace aging and broken instruments
• Rebuild our music library and classroom resources
• Improve our rehearsal space for all students
Marshall High School reflects the vibrant, diverse spirit of Los Angeles. With your support, we can continue offering life-changing opportunities through music—empowering our students to learn, collaborate, and shine on stage and beyond.
Thank you for helping us keep this proud tradition alive. Together, we can make sure every student has a chance to make music.
Thank you!
Alex Ramirez
