Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rehmatullahi Wa Barakhatu,
I hope you are doing well inshallah. I am starting GoFundMe to raise enough funds for my tuition.
I am a revert sister from India, born into a conservative Hindu Brahmin family where the joint family system and strict religious expectations are still deeply practiced. I came to Canada as an international student in September 2022, and one month later, in October 2022, Allah guided me to Islam. I had long wished to accept Islam in India, but due to severe Islamophobia and safety concerns, I waited until I arrived in Canada.
For those who don’t know, there is a hierarchy system called caste system in India and Brahmins are generally very extreme when it comes to faith. Recently, my parents found out about my conversion. As a result, they have completely withdrawn their financial support, and my father has disowned me. Until then, my parents were sponsoring my education, but I am now left without any support.
As an international student, tuition fees are nearly four times higher than those for domestic students. Each course costs approximately $2,000, and I still have one full year remaining to complete my studies. Unfortunately, there is no government or university financial assistance available to international students. At present, I do not even have sufficient funds to cover my daily living expenses.
Dropping out is not an option for me, as I would lose my legal student status and face deportation back to India, where my safety as a Muslim woman is a serious concern.
With a heavy heart but firm faith in Allah, I am turning to the Ummah for help. I wish I did not have to resort to this method to support my education, but I was truly left with no other choice. Any contribution, whether through a donation or by sharing this fundraiser would mean more to me than words can express. Since Ramadan is approaching, I am hopeful and have faith in Allah and his believers that everything will work out inshallah. May this Holy Month strengthen our Iman and help us find success in our spiritual jihad. May Allah protect us on the Day of Judgement; Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.” May Allah elevate your status on that day and reward you abundantly for your kindness… Ameen.
JazakAllahu Khair for taking the time to read my story and for supporting me. May Allah reward you with goodness in this life and the hereafter… Ameen.
For safety reasons, I am unable to publicly disclose my identity or share personal photos. I hope you understand that this decision is solely to protect myself as a Muslim woman whose safety could be compromised. I bear witness that all the information provided is truthful, and I am deeply grateful for your trust and understanding.
